From January 30th to February 1st 2020, the conference “New Cultural Geography” took place for the 17th time, this year in Bonn. The motto of the conference was “Technocultures and Technoscapes”. In this context, Jonathan Friedrich gave a presentation entitled “Making gold out of shit? – a critical reflection on current sustainability innovations to solve the manure problem in Germany of the bioeconomy “. In doing so, he established the connection between the surplus residues from agricultural production, the narratives of the bioeconomy and various socio-technical innovations. The presentation concluded with a discussion about the positioning of scientists: inside the field of tension between conflicting, social and economic visions of the future. Furthermore, Jonathan Friedrich was able to make new scientific contacts and took a lot of new and promising inputs from other lectures.
