Astrid Artner-Nehls and René Méité presented results of their work at this year’s ÖGA conference. The agro-sociologist and the agronomist linked parts of their PhD projects to the contribution “Thematizing N mitigation strategies in scientific and technical press”.

On September 16-17, 2021, the 31st annual meeting of the Austrian Society for Agricultural Economics was held online (https://oega.boku.ac.at/). The topic of this year’s ÖGA conference was “Strategies for the agricultural and food sector and rural areas in times of multiple crises.” One focus of the conference was the impact of agriculture on ecosystem services. A literature review of scientific articles and a computer-assisted analysis of specialized farming magazines were used to contrast the potential of different strategies for mitigating nitrogen from slurry from the perspective of science and their medial communication in farm journals.

The conference is organized by the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (Vienna). The proceedings of the conference can be downloaded here: https://oega.boku.ac.at/tagungen/tagung-2021/.
